Ornithologist

Job Description:

• Bird inventory incl. threatened, endemic, migratory species 
• Bird population status, abundance, density, breeding success, flock size 
• Design and run bird surveys: point counts, nest/roost counts, call/playback  
• Bird habitat assessment (breeding, nesting, roosting, feeding); bird inputs to Deliverables 

Required Experiance:

• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant professional/research experience
• Identification and taxonomy of resident, migratory, endemic and threatened birds
• Avifaunal diversity, distribution and population surveys; designing bird survey methods
• Estimation of abundance, density, population size, breeding success, flock size 
• Assessment of important bird habitats (breeding, nesting, feeding, roosting, migratory)

Required Qualification:

• At least MPhil/MS in Wildlife Sciences, Zoology, Ecology, Ornithology or closely related field. PhD preferred
