HANDS requires the following position at HANDS District Office Jacobabad for USAID’s Water Governance for Sindh Activity.

USAID Water Governance for Sindh (WGS) Activity:

HANDS is implementing the USAID-funded Water Governance for Sindh (WGS) Activityto provide technical assistance and a wide range of capacity-building interventions to the Municipal Committee Jacobabad (MCJ) to deliver clean drinking water, manage wastewater, and solid waste management services for the people of Jacobabad. Capacity-building approaches will be customized based on needs and context analysis and implemented as an integrated process in close coordination with the construction effort by USAID and the Government of Sindh through the Municipal Services Program Sindh. The over-arching purpose of the activity is that MCJ delivers sustainable and effective municipal services, building trust and ownership of the local community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement and refine the WGS Activityoutreach and communications strategy in line with USAID guidelines.
  • Develop and implement communications approaches and manage the flow of advocacy and outreach. through multiple media
  • Develops external communication materials for publications such as impact blogs, case studies, andsuccess stories.
  • Identify and implementtechniques for fostering stakeholders’ participation in the project activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders including media to ensure proper dissemination of key communications and to assist in advocacy campaigns.
  • Coordinate preparation and ensure timely submission ofquarterly and annual reports, weekly updates, annual work plans, and technical studies to USAID and other stakeholders. Draft agendas, scene setters, notes, and press releases of the events.
  • Coordinatehigh-profile stakeholders’ visits to the project sites, partners, and beneficiariesin coordination with USAID’s communications specialist and ensure appropriate media coverage.
  • Defocusedfield seminars and workshops tosharebest practices and disseminate WASH-related info to a wider audience and communities.
  • Maintain a database of partner lists, photo archives, presentations, site visit reports, press kits, etc. of the WGS Activity.
  • Edit reports, draft speeches, talking points, and other statements for use by senior management.
  • Write articles & develops brochures, videos, social media tools, etc., with an understanding of how these materials affect public perceptions and understanding of WGS Activity.
  • Prepare and update a standard information package about USAID WGS Activity for briefing and for distribution to the public and the media.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with project partners and beneficiaries, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Organize and facilitate regular project meetings and other coordination mechanisms, ensuring that all stakeholders are able to participate and contribute to project decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, reports, and other communication materials, ensuring that they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Support the development of work plans, and other project documents, ensuring that they are coherent, well-written, and meet USAID and project requirements.
  • Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team to ensure that project results and learning areshared with all stakeholders.

Skills Required:

  • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely and to present complex information in an understandable way to different audiences.
  • Interpersonal skills: The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries this may include the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.
  • Coordination skills: The Communication and Coordination Specialist must have strong organizational and coordination skills to ensure that project activities are implemented in a timely and effective manner. This includes the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Analytical skills: The ability to analyze and interpret data, and to use this information to inform project decision-making is an important skill needed for this role.

Qualifications, Experience& Knowledge:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, international development, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in communication and coordination including experience in developing and implementing communication and outreach strategies for development projects. Demonstrated experience of organizing and facilitating project meetings and public eventsis strongly required.
  • Knowledge:Sound understanding of USAID branding, marking and communications guidelines is essential.
