Scope of Work:

The Food Safety Assistant supports the Food Safety Officer in the implementation of hygiene and safety procedures in the kitchen and distribution process. The FSA performs daily checks, monitors food handling, ensures cleanliness, and maintains documentation to uphold strict food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all staff follow personal hygiene requirements (Gloves, Caps, Masks, Aprons).
  • Monitor cleanliness of cooking, cutting, packing, and serving areas.
  • Check availability of sanitizers, soap, and cleaning materials.
  • Identify contamination risks and report them immediately to the FSO.
  • Verify quality and cleanliness of ingredients before use.
  • Monitor safe handling during cooking, packing, sealing, and storing.
  • Oversee segregation of full and empty tiffins (lunch boxes) at designated areas.
  • Assist in maintaining temperature logs, cleaning checklists, and staff hygiene records.
  • Report daily observations to the Food Safety Officer.
  • Support in preparing food safety reports.
  • Check if cleaners and pot cleaners complete their assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Inspect waste disposal and cleanliness around the kitchen and outdoor areas.
  • Assist in delivering hygiene orientation to the staff.
  • Demonstrate proper handwashing and safe utensil handling.
  • Report any violation of food safety standards immediately.
  • Assist the FSO in incident investigations and documentation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Intermediate or Diploma in Food Technology or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Strong observation and reporting skills.
  • Responsible, disciplined, and detail-oriented.
  • Team player, willing to learn and improve.
