Meal Program

Purpose of the Position

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of school premises, food storage areas, staff, students, and assets associated with the School Meal Program. The role supports smooth and secure implementation of meal preparation, storage, and distribution activities in accordance with organizational security protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a secure environment at assigned schools, kitchens, warehouses, and distribution points.
• Control access to school premises during meal preparation and distribution hours.
• Monitor entry and exit of staff, visitors, vendors, and vehicles.
• Prevent theft, misuse, or damage of food commodities, equipment, and assets.

• Ensure safe crowd control during meal distribution times.
• Coordinate with school administration during meal service to maintain order and discipline.
• Support food handling teams by securing cooking and storage areas.
• Report any security incidents, suspicious activities, or safety concerns immediately.

• Maintain daily security logs and incident reports.
• Conduct routine security checks of gates, doors, storage areas, and kitchens.
• Report safety hazards, infrastructure risks, or breaches to the supervisor.

• Follow organizational security SOPs, child safeguarding, and code of conduct policies.
• Treat students, staff, and community members with respect and professionalism.
• Support emergency response procedures, including evacuation or lockdown if required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Middle / Matric education preferred.
• Prior experience as a Security Guard/Officer, preferably in schools, NGOs, or public facilities.
• Knowledge of basic safety, emergency response, and crowd management.
• Experience working in community-based or humanitarian projects is an advantage.
