Position Objectives:

The Climate Advocacy and Coordination for Resilient Action (CACRA) project aims at contributing to building and strengthening the institutional & technical capacities, structures and strategies of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in climate-smart disaster risk management programming. Adapted preparedness instruments (incl. Early Warning Systems) will also be developed in the project and tested on national, provincial, district and community levels. The project aims at increasing PRCS’ collaboration with key national and local stakeholders (government, CSO and academia) in the field of climate change adaptation and environmental management and make use of partnerships to enhance community-based outreach and awareness raising

Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

  •  

Support in the development and finalisation of a PRCS Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, its dissemination and implementation under the CACRA project

  •  

Support field team/project teams in ensuring climate change mainstreaming in assessments and implementation

  •  

Support filed teams, Climate champion volunteers and assist theProgramme Manager and project team in liaising, organising and conducting advocacy events with stakeholders across Pakistan

  •  

Development and initiate of knowledge management products, including learning reports of the events, activities and sharing these with PRCS and RCRC Movement partners including PHF and CCA/Resilience forums

  •  

Assist in activity planning, give advice on exchange and coordination mechanisms to increase the communities’ resilience against climate change and natural disasters

  •  

Participate in data gathering, data compilation and in development of research-based reports and articles as inputs to publications, press releases etc.

  •  

Prepare various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, reports, studies and concept notes to mainstream climate change adaptation into PRCS programming

  •  

Coordination with relevant stakeholders to showcase CACRA interventions at all levels

  •  

Organise and report on events related to Climate Change Adaptation in coordination with academia and other stakeholders

  •  

Monitor and analyse project developments and implementation; review documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions

  •  

Assist in the design/enhancement/implementation of qualitative and quantitative data collection tools

  •  

Assist in the coordination of project reviews and evaluations (internal and external), including drafting Terms of Reference, liaising with partners and independent experts and research institutions

  •  

Support the development of a“PRCS greening proposal” and closely monitor its potential implementation

  •  

Coordinate activities related to budgeting (project preparation and submissions, progress reports, etc.) and prepare related documents/reports

  •  

Provide substantive support to consultative meetings, conferences, etc., to including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.

Ensure adequate project documentation, archiving and presentation of best practice

  •  

Develop, refine and test early warning systems at community, district and national level

Education

Master’s degree/ 16 years of education from HEC recognized institutions in environmental sciences, disaster management, international development studies/ related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of working experience.
  • Working experience with I/NGO or UN agencies in the field of DRM, climate change adaptation, community resilience and with implementation of DRM/DRR projects
  • Proven experience in main streaming/ integrating climate adaptation into humanitarian response planning, DRM/ DRR projects and operations
  • Demonstrable, technically sound field experience from DRM/DRR, EMR related community-based programming
  • Proven experience of working closely with Government of Pakistan entities, I/NGOs, CSOs, their coordination networks and platforms and in forming evidence-base partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong English writing, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Equally adept at working individually and as part of a team

Travelling

  • Availability for frequent visits to provincial project areas
