Position Objectives:

Delivery of all aspects of the engineering elements the Project. Ensure that engineering is carried out to the highest possible technical level using up to date information and creative techniques. Specification and design of engineering works.

Ensure that all engineering work (structural mitigation projects, drinking water supply schemes etc.) delivered meet the requirements of the communities.

Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

Carry out assessment of structural projects in the projects area.

Document assessments and surveys in detailed reports.

Explain engineering issues to other project team members and support and enable them to discuss engineering decisions with the community.

Draw up detailed designs for the mitigation measures that are identified through the community liaison process. These will include designs for bridges, gabion walls, foot paths and water supply systems. They might include other requirements.

Facilitate the process of agreeing final requirements and designs for drinking water supply schemes, latrines and mitigation measures.

Ensure community have understood the implications of the chosen designs.

Specify materials and equipment required for Structural projects support Administration and Logistics Assistant in the procurement process.

Ensure that materials purchased are according to PRCS procedures and are used appropriately for the beneficiaries, and records of activities are kept properly.

Involve the communities appropriately in the construction of engineering components of the project.

Create a Plan of Action for the implementation of all engineering works.

Ensure that labor engaged in the building/construction work have appropriate skills.

Ensure that all building/construction sites and practices meet high levels of health and safety standards, environmental by-laws.

Maintain good and thorough record keeping and an updated database of all schemes, including human resources management, use of equipment and materials for the projects.

Ensure that all engineering works, like retaining walls, bridges, foot tracks, drinking water supply schemes etc are carried out as per the specification and requirement of the community.

Submit daily, weekly and monthly reporting on works and activities to the Project Officer.

Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of drinking water supply schemes, latrines and small scale mitigation projects

Undertake all such duties and accountabilities not listed above as required based on programmatic needs by the management.

Education

BS in Civil Engineering / BE-Tech (Civil) from HEC recognized University. Preference will be given to candidates having added educational courses and experience of working as lead in designing and implementing Disaster risk management projects. Candidates having more than 8-10 years’ experience with RC/RC movement on Micro mitigation projects will be given preference.

Experience

Minimum 3 years’ experience in case of BS degree and more than 07 years in case of having  DAE Civil.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Have knowledge of community mobilization and conflict resolution
  • Fluency in spoken and written in Urdu/ Hindko & English
  • Work towards the achievement of PRCS Vision and long-term objectives
  • Flexibility to travel to conduct field visits for monitoring and data collection
  • Good command on Microsoft Office (word, excel & power point) and SPSS
