JOB PURPOSE:

The incumbent shall be responsible to train selected youth in adventure tourism, where some of the main topics include; scope of tourism, camping, customer handling skills, safety & security measures, hiking, sightseeing, map reading, rock climbing, trekking, tour guiding process, professionalism & ethics and sustainable ecotourism and role of trainees. Master Trainer would also be responsible to develop the training materials including training curriculum, manuals, pre & post assessment, presentations and trainees’ handouts.

Job Description:

  1. Develop and update Adventure Tourism Guides Training materials including, training curriculum, manual, Pre & Post test tools, training evaluation form, presentations and trainees handouts.
  2. Conduct sessions on tour guide requirements, processes and essential skills 
  3. Conduct practical training sessions on First Aid/Safety
  4. Conduct practical training on rock-climbing
  5. Conduct practical training on hiking, trekking and camping
  6. Guide the trainees regarding formation of tour guide clubs, online marketing of tour guide services and marketing techniques.
  7. Conduct sessions and practical demonstrations on adventure tourism, camping, ensuring tourist safety and security, tourist attraction sites and sightseeing, map reading, hiking, and scheduling.
  8. Conduct practical training in rock-climbing, trekking and camping
  9. Conduct interpersonal communication skills, life skills and soft skills sessions
  10. Facilitate in identification camping spots for practical trainings
  11. Conduct pre and post assessments
  12. Prepare and share the details of required training resource materials at least a week prior to the training
  13. Apply variety of training delivery techniques and strategies to train the trainees with respect to the required competencies
  14. Monitor trainees progress, prepare reports and submit to the supervisor
  15. Manage trainees’ performance evaluation (formative & summative) and submit reports both hard & soft copies within one week of evaluation.
  16. Update trainee’s data as per the requirements of MIS. 
  17. Perform any other task assigned by line manager.

Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum 14 years of formal education, education in tourism/ hospitality management would be given preference.  
  • Possess demonstrated experience in conducting First Aid/safety, Rock climbing, trekking trainings etc.
  • In-depth knowledge and awareness regarding adventure and eco-tourism
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with eco-tourism, adventure tour guides and camping village projects
  • Experience of working with NGOs, training institutions and hotels and tourism industry
  • Excellent Computer Skills (MS Office) is mandatory
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are important, however, understanding about local dialects is also important
  • Sound judgment, flexibility, adaptability and cultural & gender sensitivity are the core values
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and strategies.
  • Self-motivated and having good sense of humor to motivate adults for learning and grooming.
