Tetra Tech ES, Inc., a subsidiary of Tetra Tech dedicated to international development, is recruiting for Gender Specialist for a USAID-funded project in Islamabad, Pakistan.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Gender Specialist will work closely with the project team to promote increased gender equality by improving the quality of women’s lives at the household level, increased employment opportunities for women, and greater sensitivity to gender-related workplace and customer service issues in power sector organizations.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: 

  • Implementing the Project’s Gender Action Plan to prioritize women’s roles in training and marketing of renewable energy and energy efficiency in their communities and households;
  • Conducting gender-sensitive trainings/sessions to ensure the differential needs, constraints, capacities, priorities of women and men targeted by the project are understood and addressed;
  • Improving the mainstreaming of gender into project activities and project management tools, including tracking of gender equality results and gender-sensitive analysis of data collected;
  • Leveraging consultations with women’s groups and other community stakeholders to provide recommendations on how to best encourage community acceptance of project initiatives and incorporate best practices in women’s economic empowerment into the project.
  • Liaising with multiple government and private sector organizations throughout Pakistan. 

QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)

EDUCATION:                           Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Economics, Business, Sociology, Anthropology or related social science/humanities discipline is required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:              

  • 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Preference will be given to individuals with experience with experience with Pakistani government and private sector organizations, policy development, HRM and training programs.

SKILLS

  • Strong organization, communication, presentation and writing skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required.

LANGUAGES:                          Excellent language proficiency in both writing and speaking in English and Urdu.

GENERAL:                               Tactfulness, Enthusiasm to the job. Good Human Relation skills, integrity and ability to work under pressure.
