A national non-profit organization is seeking applications from eligible candidates for the position of Internal Auditor in Peshawar, on a contract basis for a donor-funded program.
Scope of the job:
The Internal Auditor will be responsible for conducting reviews at all relevant departments/sections of the organization as required by the scope of the Audit Department. He/she will be co-responsible for assessing the adequacy of the control environment, conformance to organizational policies and donor regulations, compliance to laws & regulations, financial soundness, and proper application of regulations and procedures across all operations and activities of the organization. The incumbent will also be responsible for more complex audit assignments throughout the organizations
Job Description:
1) Draft the Internal Audit Charter of the organization in line with the international standards.
2) Design internal audit procedures and work programs.
3) Conduct internal audits to assess the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the established internal controls and procedures.
4) Identify key areas of risk within the organization and propose appropriate controls to mitigate the risks.
5) Review the accuracy, timeliness and relevance of financial information and other disclosures provided to management.
6) Discuss audit findings and recommendations with line managers and report significant issues to senior management.
7) Prepare audit reports in line with the approved audit plan.
8) Monitor the timely implementation of the management actions recommended in the audit reports.
9) Provide Executive Director with an opinion on the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the internal controls in the organization.
10) Liaise with the external auditors on internal control issues.
11) Discuss process enhancements and practices issues with management to reach joint solution to mitigate risk factors.
12) Report on audit findings by drafting suitable audit reports and presentations on key control deficiencies, non-compliance with procedures and management policies and regulatory requirements among others, in areas reviewed and recommending corrective action to improve operational efficiency in cost effective way.
13) Identify factors causing deficient conditions and recommend courses of action with the adequacy to improve the conditions.
14) Ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines and policies of the organization as well as compliance with legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.
15) Other job-related tasks as assigned by the Executive Director
Education and Knowledge:
- CA Finalist or a CA Inter / ACCA, Master Degree with relevant experience.
- Should be well-versed and possess a solid understanding of the International Accounting Standards, International Auditing Standards and income and Sales tax laws at provincial and federal level.
- In depth knowledge of internal controls, risk management and accountingprocess issues.
- Strong analytical and advisory skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Proper judgement skill in resolving issues.
Work Experience:
At least Three (3) years of relevant practical experience.
Preference will be given to candidate who have recently worked in donor-based, humanitarian set ups, and to local candidates. Females are encouraged to apply.
