GIS Specialist/Research Associate

TORs

1. Conduct desk research, literature reviews, and background analysis on climate change, environmental sustainability, circular economy, resource management, and sustainable development themes.
2. Support preparation of research reports, working papers, policy briefs, technical reports, and project publications.
3. Collect, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data for research assignments.
4. Develop GIS-based datasets and spatial analysis outputs for environmental and climate-related projects as required by supervisor.
5. Prepare maps, spatial databases, and visualization products for reports, presentations, and policy documents.
6. Support integration of remote sensing data, satellite imagery, and geospatial information into research outputs.
7. Contribute to dissemination of research findings through presentations, publications and communication materials.
8. Assist in preparing project methodologies, work plans, logical frameworks, indicators, and technical narratives.
9. Conduct background research and provide technical inputs for new funding opportunities.

Required Qualification

1. PhD degree in Environmental Sciences, GIS & Remote Sensing, Climate Change
2. Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in research, GIS applications, environmental analysis
3. Strong understanding of climate change, environmental governance, sustainability, and development challenges.
4. Experience in GIS software including ArcGIS/QGIS and preferably remote sensing applications.
5. Demonstrated experience in research writing, technical reporting, and data analysis.
