Job Description: Programme Officer - Education

Position: Programme Officer - Education

Organization: International Organization

Location: Islamabad, with frequent travel to project districts

Duration: Initial contract of 1 year with a 3-month probationary period. (Extendable based on funding

and performance)

Job Summary

The Programme Officer - Education will lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of formal and non- formal education projects for out-of-school children, girls’ education, and Accelerated Learning Program (ALP). The role ensures quality education delivery, strong government/community coordination, and timely project reporting as per organizational and compliance standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Project Implementation

  • Plan and execute education activities: school/ centers establishment, ALP centers, teacher training, Materials distribution, day-to-day functioning of schools/ centers.
  • Coordinate with District Education Offices, DEOs, and School Management Committees
  • Mobilize communities and parents for enrollment, retention, and girls’ education

2. Technical Support

  • Support teachers through training, mentoring, and classroom monitoring
  • Ensure curriculum, Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs), and teaching methods align with Ministry of Education + program standards
  • Promote inclusive education for girls, children with disabilities, and marginalized children

3. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Track project KPIs: enrollment, retention, learning outcomes, teacher attendance
  • Conduct field visits for data collection, quality checks, and beneficiary verification
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and final project reports with case studies and success stories

4. Coordination & Compliance

  • Liaise with procurement team for education supplies, furniture, TLMs etc.
  • Ensure child safeguarding, gender, and inclusion policies are followed
  • Represent organization in education sector coordination meetings and forums

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience managing NGO/INGO education projects.

  • Direct experience running Accelerated Learning Programs (ALP), Early Childhood Education (ECE), or targeted girls' education initiatives is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in proposal contribution, basic budgeting, and M&E frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with mobile data collection tools like Kobo Toolbox, ODK, or similar platforms. High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English and Urdu is required.

Proficiency in regional languages spoken across the project districts is highly desirable.
