Field Coordinator - Astore
Project Title: Promoting Anticipatory Action to Address Climate and Environment Risks for Community Transformation (PROAACT)
1. Position Summary
The Field Coordinator will be responsible for managing and engaging stakeholders throughout the entire project. This includes identifying and mobilizing relevant participants, as well as coordinating meetings, training sessions, workshops, and project activities over the project timeline. As the primary liaison among the project team, local government representatives, and the community, this role is vital for ensuring smooth coordination with stakeholders for all activities essential to the project's success.
2. Key Responsibilities (KRs)
- Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact between the project team and external stakeholders (government representatives and community leaders) for ensuring strong partnerships to facilitate project activities.
- Stakeholder Mapping and Outreach:
- Identify key stakeholders at the sub-national level, including government officials, local communities, civil society organizations, academics, and private sector representatives relevant to the Astore region.
- Field Operations
- Monitor field-level progress, identify risks related to climate and environmental factors, and report findings back to the central project team.
- Workshop/Training/Meeting Coordination:
- Serve as the main point of contact for all participants, addressing inquiries and providing necessary information.
- Facilitation of Participatory Processes:
- Facilitate the workshop/training sessions and field operations to ensure a gender-sensitive, inclusive, and participatory process.
- Manage group dynamics to ensure all voices, particularly those of marginalized groups, are heard and respected.
3. Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Climate Change, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in community mobilization, field coordination, or project implementation, preferably in a climate or development sector context; required but not limited to:
- Demonstrated experience working with government departments, UN agencies, development organizations and local community members.
- Prior experience in supervising field teams and supporting large-scale surveys is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the socio-economic, cultural, and geographic context of Gilgit Baltistan and the Astore region.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with communities and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple field tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently in field-based and team-oriented environments preferably in remote field settings.
- Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships with government officials and community stakeholders
