Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

• Thoroughly review and demonstrate a clear understanding of the study protocol and all related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring full compliance in all assigned tasks
• Complete the required CITI certification and maintain compliance with research ethics and regulatory standards
• Perform sample processing in accordance with approved study protocols
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all laboratory and study activities

• Track laboratory supplies and consumables and proactively report any shortages to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Attend weekly meetings and present updates on weekly performance and data progress
• Prepare and review all relevant data prior to meetings to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Coordinate and participate in internal meeting before weekly meeting with the Site Principal Investigator (PI) to align on progress, challenges, and key discussion points

1. Sample reception

• Receive clinical specimens in accordance with study protocols
• Verify patient identification, labeling, and supporting documentation (e.g., request forms)
• Properly read and document sample quality (volume, container leakage, labeling) as per protocol
• Report and coordinate issues related to sample quality or documentation to supervisor

2. Sample Processing and Reporting

• Process and perform following laboratory procedures in accordance with approved protocols
• Smear microscopy (Ziehl–Neelsen and/or fluorescent staining)
• GeneXpert (Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra) testing
• Mycobacterial culture (e.g., LJ or MGIT systems)

• Assist in the process of QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus (IGRA)

• Adhere to biosafety guidelines (BSL-2/BSL-3 practices) while handling infectious materials
• Accurately record, verify, and report laboratory results in a timely manner
• Ensure implementation of quality control procedures

3. Storage and Preservation of Blood and Other Samples

• Ensure proper labeling with unique identifiers of all sample stored
• Aliquot biological samples (e.g., Sputum, blood, urine, saliva) and store as per study protocol (e.g., refrigeration or -80°C)
• Maintain detailed inventory and location tracking of stored specimens
• Monitor and document storage conditions (e.g., temperature logs, equipment performance)

4. Data Entry (REDCap)

• Enter laboratory data accurately into REDCap
• Verify data against source documents to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Address data queries in coordination with supervisors and data management teams
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with data protection policies

5. Data Management

• Maintain organized hard copies of documents (e.g., request forms, reports)
• Ensure secure storage and controlled access to physical records
• Manage electronic databases with regular backups and data security measures
