Job Description

Job Title: Expert Facilitator /Trainer for Training of Farmers on drip irrigation systems

Project: Gilgit-Baltistan Local Area Development Programme (Diamer)
Target Group: Local Farmers, technicians, Youth

Location: Diamer

Reporting To: Project Manager

 

Job Purpose

To train farmers, technicians, and field staff on the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of drip irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water use and improved crop productivity.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct theoretical and practical training sessions on drip irrigation systems
  • Explain principles of micro-irrigation, fertigation, and water management
  • Train participants on system components (laterals, emitters, filters, pumps, valves)
  • Demonstrate installation, testing, and commissioning of drip systems
  • Guide trainees on system design as per crop, soil, and water source
  • Train on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of drip systems
  • Support farmers in identifying and resolving field-level issues
  • Develop and update training modules, manuals, and presentations
  • Prepare practical demonstration plans and hands-on exercises
  • Customize training content based on local crops and conditions
  • Assess trainee performance and learning outcomes
  • Maintain training records, attendance,
  • Conduct pre & post test
  • Submit training reports to management/project authorities
  • Coordinate with agronomists, suppliers, and field teams
  • Support pilot demonstrations and model farm activities
  • Promote best practices in water conservation and sustainable farming

 

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma / Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, or related field
  • Certification in Micro-Irrigation (preferred)
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in drip irrigation systems
  • Experience in farmer training, extension services, or skill development preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of drip and micro-irrigation systems
  • Good communication and training skills (local language preferred)
  • Ability to conduct practical field demonstrations
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Willingness to travel extensively to rural areas
