Assistant Skill Trainer

Position Overview

The Assistant Skill Trainer is responsible for delivering high quality vocational and technical training. Depending on the assigned trade (Engineering or Vocational), you will guide trainees through the practical application of technical theories, ensuring they meet industry standards for safety and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on training sessions in workshops or labs for specific trades (Electrical circuits, Mechanical assembly, or Tailoring/Embroidery).

• Demonstrate the correct use of machinery, tools, and equipment (multimeters, lathes, sewing machines, or CAD software).

• Assist in the development and execution of lesson plans that align with National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) or similar standards.

• Oversee the maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure all machinery is in working order and report any defects.

• Enforce strict Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) protocols within the training facility to prevent workshop accidents.

• Evaluate the quality of projects produced by students and provide technical feedback for improvement.

• Maintain a log of raw materials (fabric, wires, metal scrap, etc.) used during training sessions to ensure efficient resource allocation.

Requirements

• 3 years Post-Matric Diploma (DAE) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering or 3 years of Post-Matric Diploma in Vocational Trades (e.g., Knitting, Tailoring, or Embroidering).

• Minimum of 05 years of practical experience in the relevant field.

• Deep understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, or design patterns relevant to the specific trade.

• Age Limit: 18 – 30 years.

• High level of skill in working with hands and specialized tools.

• Ability to break down complex technical processes into simple, repeatable steps for learners.

• The ability to work with trainees of various skill levels and learning speeds.
