Position Summary
The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data to support project planning, implementation, and decision-making processes. The role requires technical expertise in GIS applications along with the ability to support training and capacity-building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain GIS databases and spatial data systems.
- Perform spatial analysis, mapping, and data visualization to support project objectives.
- Assist in land surveys, cadastral mapping, revenue mapping, and property-related GIS assignments.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.
- Conduct training sessions and capacity-building workshops where required.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and documentation.
- Coordinate with government departments and relevant stakeholders as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Remote Sensing, or a closely related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience in GIS applications and spatial data management.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Experience in training delivery, academic instruction, or institutional capacity building.
- Proven expertise in land surveying, cadastral systems, revenue mapping, or property-related GIS projects.
- Prior experience working with government agencies or public-sector development projects will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in relevant GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data tools.
