Position Summary

The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data to support project planning, implementation, and decision-making processes. The role requires technical expertise in GIS applications along with the ability to support training and capacity-building initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain GIS databases and spatial data systems.
  • Perform spatial analysis, mapping, and data visualization to support project objectives.
  • Assist in land surveys, cadastral mapping, revenue mapping, and property-related GIS assignments.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions and capacity-building workshops where required.
  • Prepare technical reports, maps, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with government departments and relevant stakeholders as needed.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Remote Sensing, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience in GIS applications and spatial data management.

 

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience in training delivery, academic instruction, or institutional capacity building.
  • Proven expertise in land surveying, cadastral systems, revenue mapping, or property-related GIS projects.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies or public-sector development projects will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data tools.
