Provision of Medical Screening Services for Children with Disabilities in Schools

(Female Medical Team comprising “Ophthalmologist, ENT/audiologist, physiotherapist/ orthopedic” (4 teams of the same composition will be required).

 

Participatory Rural Development Society (PRDS) invites qualified medical institutions, hospitals, diagnostic centers, and registered medical practitioners/individual consultants (practicing in KPK) to submit proposals for the Medical Screening of Children with Disabilities in 60 girls’ primary schools across Shangla (30 schools) and Bunner (30 schools) Districts. Only those institutions and practitioners that are based in, or operationally established within, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are eligible to apply.”

The objective is to ensure early identification, timely referral, and support for children with disabilities through systematic screening and provision of assistive devices, promoting inclusive learning environments in schools.

Scope of Work

  • Conduct school-based medical camps for Eye, Hearing, and Physical Screening for aprox 10,000 children in 50 primary & 10 Middle schools.
  • Medical team comprising 3 specialized female medical practitioners (1-ophthalmologist, 2-ENT/audiologist, 3-physiotherapist/ orthopedic). A total of 4 teams will be required that can work simultaneously.
  • Identify and document functional difficulties and disability types among children.
  • Recommend suitable assistive devices and referrals for approximately 1,000 children with mild to moderate disabilities.
  • Expected timeline for the assignment is Dec 10th, 2025 to Dec 24, 2025.  Timeline can be changed, if required.
  • The average students at one school are expected to be 100-300 children, 30 schools in Bunner (Tehsil Daggar, Gagra, & Mandanr) & 30 schools in Shangla  (Tehsil Besham, & Alpuri)  
  • Applicable taxes shall be included in the proposed cost.
  • List of target schools is attached herewith.

Tools:

  • Conduct Eye Screening using required medical equipment.
  • Conduct Hearing Screening using functional tests / equipment
  • Observe for Physical Impairments (limb deformities, motor difficulty, posture challenges, etc.).
  • Consultant must manage all equipment/tools required for disability screening.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be registered with relevant health authorities/PMDC.
  • Licensed specialists in relevant medical fields (1-ophthalmologist, 2-ENT/audiologist, 3-physiotherapist/orthopedic).
  • Proven experience in school/community-based screening or medical camps.
  • Possess valid NTN and institutional/individual registration certificates.

Site / Camp Management

  • Applicants will manage and arrange transportation, travel arrangements to school site.
  • PRDS will manage/support school-based facilitation for the medical team.
  • No food or accommodation will be provided by PRDS.
