Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent Registered Nurse for Aga Khan Hospital, Gilgit
The Registered Nurse will provide holistic, patient-centered mental health nursing care, ensuring safe treatment, relapse prevention, psychosocial support, and comprehensive care planning as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The incumbent will deliver specialized nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health disorders, emotional disturbances, and behavioral challenges—aiming to support recovery, enhance coping skills, and improve overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including history taking, mental status examinations, and risk evaluations.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care based on patient needs.

Monitor patients’ emotional, psychological, and physical conditions, and respond appropriately to changes.

Administer prescribed medications safely; monitor therapeutic effects, side effects, and document accurately.

Provide emergency psychiatric interventions in crisis situations (e.g., suicide risk, violent/aggressive behavior).

Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards.

Assess patient environments for safety risks and implement preventive measures.
2. Patient Support & Psychoeducation
-
Provide education to patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment plans, medication adherence, and coping strategies.

Support families in understanding behavioral management techniques and recovery pathways.
-
Promote a therapeutic, empathetic, and respectful environment.
3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
-
Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other healthcare professionals for patient care planning.

Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, multidisciplinary case conferences, and discharge planning.

Contribute clinical insights to individualized treatment plans and follow-up strategies.
4. Monitoring & Documentation

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential electronic and written nursing records.

Monitor patient progress and report any clinical changes promptly to the care team.

Document all interventions, incidents, and evaluations according to AKHS, P standards.
5. Capacity Building & Professional Conduct

Participate in training, research, and continuous professional development, including WHO’s mhGAP guidelines or AKHS,P nursing standards.

Adhere to ethical principles, confidentiality, informed consent, and patient rights.
