Position Title: Proposal Writer / Grants Development Expert

Position Overview

The incumbent will be responsible for developing high-quality concept notes, proposals, and grant applications tailored to various donors including bilateral, multilateral, corporate, and philanthropic partners. This is a short-term, task-based engagement ideal for professionals with strong writing and donor liaison experience who thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities / Terms of Reference (TORs)

1. Proposal Development
• Lead the development of concept notes, technical proposals, and grant applications aligned with donor priorities and organizational strategy.
• Coordinate with program, finance, and MEAL teams to gather necessary inputs and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
• Ensure clarity, consistency, and compelling presentation of proposals.
2. Donor Mapping & Intelligence
• Identify and analyse funding opportunities from international and local donors.
• Maintain an updated donor database with deadlines, focus areas, and eligibility criteria.
3. Documentation & Reporting
• Draft or review project summaries, capability statements, and organizational profiles for submission.
• Support the preparation of required annexures including log frames, budgets, and narratives.
4. Capacity Support
• Advise internal teams on donor trends, proposal structuring, and presentation formats.
• Conduct short knowledge-sharing sessions with relevant staff on proposal development best practices.
5. Quality Assurance
• Review all proposal content to ensure it meets the highest standards of accuracy, coherence, and professionalism.
• Ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic themes and donor compliance frameworks.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in development studies, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in proposal and grant writing for development or humanitarian sectors.
• Proven success record in securing funding from bilateral, multilateral, or corporate donors.
• Strong understanding of log frames, budgeting, and results-based frameworks.
• Excellent English writing, editing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

• Type: Seasonal / Short-term Consultancy (Task-based)
• Duration: Six months or based on funding cycle
