Social Mobilizers for Engaging Men in Child Health and Immunization project
OCSD is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working for the most disadvantaged communities in Balochistan since 2004 gaining vast experience of working with Afghan Refugees and Hosting as well as Local communities on Health, Education, Livelihood Improvement and Emergency/Relief. Presently, OCSD is implementing the research project Engaging Men in Child Health and Immunization in Quetta. By implementing the project, organisation will improve immunization coverage for children under one year of age while strengthening gender equity within the household. The project has been funded by Gavi and implemented by Jhpiego. The project will work for transformation of gender norms and promote equity by involving men individually and with their partners in the household as caregivers. The main idea is to transform conventional approaches about perceived responsibilities of men and women in caregiving for children. As a result, men, women, and couples will contribute towards increased gender equity in child health and immunization.
The project will achieve the following specific objectives:
OCSD aims to hire a team of social mobilizers ensuring gender equality to support comfortable mobilization activity within the cultural norms of project area. Competent and motivated (male & female) individuals will be recruited as social mobilizers to undertake the project activities for meeting the said project objectives.
