General Position Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for X screening TB patients from the OPD patient in accordance with the PPM Operational Guidelines. The incumbent will be the in-charge of the X-ray machine and accessories in the designated hospital. S/he will support and coordinate with the District Filed Supervisors (DFSs) for the registration of TB patients and recording and reporting as required.  

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will have a full-time presence at the designated hospital for providing diagnostic services to the beneficiaries.
  • The incumbent will be working 6 days a week at the designated hospital.
  • Screen beneficiaries coming to the OPD of the designated hospital(s) as per guidelines using X-Ray machine.
  • Provision of quality services of X-rays by proper positioning and application of standard technique
  • To be able to interpret X-rays with the help of software and refer the presumptive cases for sputum microscopy and Xpert testing.
  • Ensure the regular maintenance of the X-ray machine and its accessories.
  • Ensure the sputum sample reaches the facility for examination and the patient is diagnosed and registered to receive TB treatment.
  • Prepare monthly statistical records of the screen, presumptive and TB cases and submit them to the Regional Coordinator.
  • Prepare other detailed reports as and when required.
  • Attend TB DOTS training as per the National Guidelines
  • Attend training on x-ray reading of chest diseases focusing especially on TB.
  • Responsible for his own and others’ radiation safety in the work area including checking equipment for malfunctions/ errors.
  • Maintain a positive work relationship with the designated hospital staff, Mercy Corps field team, district health authorities of the project district, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.
  • Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Works Directly With: Regional Coordinator, District Field Supervisors, and designated hospital staff   

Knowledge and Experience

Graduation and Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology /Radiography from a renowned institute. X-ray Technician needs detailed knowledge of x-ray procedures and their interpretation. Fluency in Urdu and the local language is required. Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of MS Office (specifically MS Word and Excel). Additional qualifications such as a Diploma or Certification in IT/computer skills will be an added advantage.

At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a government or large private hospital under a renowned radiologist.

Success Factors

Must be a team player and be able to work proactively in a challenging environment.  Must be adaptable and flexible. Should be able to work under stress. Time management is critical to the success of this program.
