Malteser International is an INGO working in Pakistan since 2005, and currently operational in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces. Malteser International implements projects in Health, Nutrition, Livelihoods, WASH and Disaster Risk Reduction.
Female Medical Officer
Based: Peshawar (Badaber)
Main Responsibilities / Duties:
- Supervise Malteser International staff working in respective BHU.
- Provide curative care services to men, women, and children, and identify high-risk cases and chronic diseases those are not curable at BHU level and insure an effective and timely referral to the designated government hospitals.
- Conduct/support a normal delivery during her duty hours.
- Responsible for random checks of medicines/consumables/medical equipment in the pharmacy at BHU.
- Avoid stockouts at pharmacy by timely submitting the supply request duly signed by her and the BHU Pharmacy In-charge.
- Identify staff training needs and share with project manager for arranging required capacity building/developing trainings.
- Provide on-the-job coaching to LHVs e.g. importance of ANC visits during pregnancy, importance of safe and clean delivery at health facility, newborn care, PNC, screening and referral of high-risk pregnancy, malnutrition etc.
- Provide guidance to social mobilizer to develop his weekly social mobilization plan.
- Ensure all BHU/staff related issues are timely communicated and discussed with Area Coordinator to be solved.
- Ensure a good standard of cleanness is maintained in BHU.
- Ensure all staff she supervises is working effectively and efficiently as per their Role & Responsibilities.
- Immediately report any irregularities (if found) to the Area Coordinator.
- Ensure all data registration and reporting recording tools e.g. OPD/delivery/PNC/H & HP registers etc, are regularly maintained and updated.
- Maintain a good working relation with CAR/DoH/Partner staff and local communities.
- Assess/analyse situations in case of emergencies such as any disease out-break and immediately report this to Area Coordinator for a timely action.
- Ensure all medical equipment is in a working condition, and inventory is present and updated on regular basis.
- Prepare and submit all type of reports to her supervisor in time without any delays for onwards submission.
- Conduct weekly staff meeting at BHU to identify any challenges/gaps and sort out them in consultation with BHU Staff; and at the end of meeting submit meeting minutes to Project Manager.
- Attend coordination meetings held at BHU level by MI/CAR/DoH/partner organizations.
- Accomplish any other work-related task (s) assigned by her supervisor.
Core qualifications:
- MBBS from a recognized institute.
- Registered with PMDC and having a valid registration.
- Minimum Three (03) years’ relevant work experience with N/INGO, and willing to travel to remote health facilities in project location.
- Working experience in primary healthcare settings and particularly with Afghan Refugees will be an asset.
- Good Knowledge of English, Urdu and Pashto is essential.
- Skills in facilitation, collaborative team building and conflict management.
- Ability to work under difficult situations.
- Demonstrated skills in human resources management.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Familiar with local culture.
- Should have leadership qualities.
- Good Interpersonal and Communication skills.
- Ability to work independently/as a team and demonstrate flexibility, motivation, and maturity.
