U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the “Shipment Supervisor” position in U.S. Embassy Islamabad.

Basic Function of the Position – The incumbent works under the supervision of General Services Officer (GSO) and is responsible for the management and supervision of Customs and Shipping section. The incumbent oversees day-to-day operation of Customs and Shipping section of the Embassy for the Department of State (DOS) and United States Government (USG) agencies subscribed through international Cooperative Administrative Support Services (ICASS). This includes proposing, developing, and implementing operational as well as technological changes to facilitate the continued refinement and achievement of higher efficiencies in the shipping section work performance. Develops and implements operational procedures for the packing and handling of incoming and outgoing USG shipments. Serve as subject matter expert (SME) in facilitating all type of shipments and vehicles processes. Directly interacts with Government of Pakistan officials to obtain tax exemption certificates, import/export approvals and other No Objection Certificates (NOC). Develops and implements new procedures according to changing United States (U.S) and Government of Pakistan (GOP) regulations. The incumbent drafts diplomatic notes and other non-routine written correspondence to local government officials, DOS, and other Embassy/Consulate/Post personnel and contractors.

Qualification Requirements: 

Education: Completion of college or university studies (14 years of education) is required.

Experience:  Minimum of four (4) years experience in the field of international customs, shipping, logistics or transportation is required. An additional one (1) year of supervisory experience is also required.

Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have detailed knowledge of local government import/export and customs laws, policies and procedures, including tax policies. Should have detailed knowledge of local motor vehicle policies with respect to registration, transfer, licensing, and taxes.

Skills And Abilities: The incumbent should possess excellent supervisory and management skills and the ability to deal with people effectively and diplomatically, teamwork, leadership skills. Should be Proficient in Microsoft Office application suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Skills and abilities may be tested.
