AiD Pvt. Ltd. has received the award from USAID to support the implementation of ERDA – Economic Recovery and Development Activity. ERDA is a five-year development assistance program which aims to provide expanded economic opportunities in the NMDs by strengthening and modernizing the agriculture sector and promoting micro and small enterprises.

Qualification Requirements

  • University degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Development, or a relevant social science discipline
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in MSMEs and private sector led development, including improving market access, cluster development initiatives, technical assistance to micro and small businesses, strengthening business representative bodies, establishing value chain platforms, business enabling environment, and other relevant interventions
  • Experience managing large development programs in partnership with communities and in politically sensitive and potentially volatile environments
  • Experience working with the MSME sector in NMDs and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the region
  • In-depth understanding and expert knowledge of the Pakistani and NMDs MSME sectors’ legal and institutional frameworks, policies and institutions
  • In-depth understanding of the regulatory and institutional governance frameworks for the NMDs region of Pakistan
  • Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with donors, development partners, sub Implementing Partners, and multiple host-country counterparts
  • Strong computer skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Spoken Urdu and Pashto is desirable.

Job Description (illustrative)

  • Technical lead for activities under Component 2 and 3 of ERDA
    • Component 2: Sub-Objective 2: Micro- and small businesses promoted by strengthening MSMEs in both farm and non-farm sectors
    • Sub-Objective 3: Improved business enabling environment through policy reforms and technical assistance to the GoKP
  • Provide technical direction and managing activities to engage and develop the MSMEs and private sector in the NMDs;
  • Planning and overseeing relevant PMU and DIU staff to ensure successful implementation of all activities planned under Component 2 and 3;
  • Work closely with COP/ DCOP to develop and ensure the implementation of work plans for all activities under Component 2 and 3;
  • Liaise with relevant GoKP departments, private sector actors (market associations, Chambers of Commerce and Industry), banks, service providers, SMEDA and other private sector stakeholders to keep them engaged in project design and updated on project achievements;
  • Lead consultations and engagement with banking and credit service providers and facilitate their entry in untapped NMD markets;
  • Lead provision of policy-level, technical assistance and capacity building support to GoKP to help improve the business enabling environment in NMDs;
  • Work with the PPP Specialist to facilitate outreach to MSMEs regarding relevant project interventions;
  • Work closely with the Finance and Grants Manager to guide development of a responsive Grants Manual, and smooth implementation of grants support activities;
  • Other duties as assigned by the COP/DCOP.
