The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance. It acts in response to emergencies and at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law.

Background Information:

The ICRC requires a relevant Theatre/Drama consultant to conduct a series of street theatres in Islamabad, Peshawar, Mansehra and Lahore.

Position Title:  Theatre/Drama Consultant

Duties & Responsibilities

Consultant will be responsible to

  • Announce and conduct an audition to finalize the cast for the theatre  
  • Prepare a script based on a theme agreed and approved by the ICRC
  • Prepare a play in line with the script, and with due coordination and approval
  • Prepare a script covering the idea conveyed by ICRC.  
  • Arrange rehearsal sessions for the selected actresses and actors. The cast should also include some volunteers from Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), selected through auditions.
  • Arrange required costume and equipment for the play  
  • Arrange travel for the cast and crew to the selected venues
  • Stage at least 5 plays in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore and KP (preferably Peshawar, Abbottabad and/or Hazara). The ICRC will facilitate the consultant in arranging the venues in selected cities.
  • Ensure the branding and visibility of ICRC at the performance venues
  • Promote the play through its social media accounts with the hashtags agreed by ICRC.
  • The copyright of all the plays and activities will belong to ICRC.

Qualifications

  • An Islamabad-based theatre expert with at least 10 years’ experience of stage drama production, direction, casting and script writing
  • Experience with writing plays and scripts on social and humanitarian issues
