The protection team leader coordinates and supervises the implementation of the protection activities, mainly, Restoring Family Links(RFL), at a country level in the context of the priorities, objectives and strategies set by the delegation. S/he actively contributes in the reflection, analysis and understanding of the (geo)-political context, both at a national and (trans)-regional levels. S/he supports the Head of Protection in the engagement with authorities and other relevant stakeholders at national level. S/he contributes to strengthening the capacities of the National Society to re-establish family links between separated family members and/or protect and assist those affected by the disaster/emergencies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to elaboration and necessary adaptation of Protection/Restoring family links (RFL) strategies and implementing programme activities according to the priorities and set objectives.
  • In case of humanitarian crisis/emergency, is responsible to develop adequate protection emergency plan of action in coordination with other units / National Society.
  • Plans, organizes, supervises and monitors the programme activities and ensures effective integration of the protection standards within the overall operational approach and programs.
  • Assists the National Society in developing its protection response to address the needs of migrants and their families and/or those detained to re-establish their family links and facilitate family reunification.
  • Responsible for the management of the protection office and supervision of staff involved in programme activities in the delegation and sub-delegation. S/he contributes to performance and competency appraisals of the staff under direct supervision.
  •  Drafts internal reports and representations to authorities and other stakeholders at national level.
  • Analyses and makes regular summaries of evolving trends and patterns relevant to protection/RFL objectives and activities.
  • Establishes and/or reviews guidelines and working tools related to programme activities.
  • Develops and maintains a network of contacts in the field of protection, including authorities, international organizations, and non-government organizations.
  • Identifies synergies and develops multidisciplinary approach with other ICRC programs and/or Red Cross Red Crescent Movement partners to carry out protection work.

Main Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law and Political Science.
  • Minimum of 8 - 9 years of professional experience in carrying out a range of protection activities in a similar and large global organization. (Experience of another context/international mission and/or working in the migration/refugee thematic will be an added advantage).
  • Advanced knowledge of the global humanitarian protection context.
  • A minimum of 3 - 6 years of progressive leadership experience and people management.
  • Good command of protection methodologies and approaches.
  • Ability to travel in and outside Pakistan.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Fluent command of English and Urdu.
  • Computer proficiency with excellent skills in Microsoft Office tools.
