Title: Youth Engagement Officer

THE “WHY” - Purpose of the Position                                                                                                                                          

An International NGO is seeking a Youth Engagement Officer who will support the Project Manager by leading engagement with youth leaders and organizations in Karachi and Lahore, implementing project activities with youth in both target areas, as well as ensure all aspects of reporting on the project’s activities.

THE “WHAT” - Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project implementation

  • Support the Project Manager will all aspect of project planning and implementation
  • Planning and implementing project activities, including youth mapping, trainings for youth on religious dialogue, establishing and engaging an interfaith youth network, regional learning workshops, and developing and implementing a youth-led media campaign
  • Build partnerships and working with local youth leaders and organizations to collaborate on project activities and ensure local ownership
  • Support youth participants to develop local youth-led initiatives and provide them with ongoing coaching and support
  • Ensure a diverse group of youth are engaged and empowered by the project, including women and religious minorities
  • Submit weekly field report to Project Manager including activity contribution in overall goal of project, Participants quotes, challenges and success stories.
  • Manage social media component of project including routine posting on social media platforms and activities announcement.
  • Carry out frequent field visits to targeted districts to facilitate and supervise project’s activities.
  • Assist in the collection of data for activities that support organization growth.

Reporting and capturing results

  • Collaborate with the M&E team to monitor the quality of activities and gather participant feedback
  • Prepare activity reports and contribute to quarterly reports in English
  • Participate in reflection exercises and monitoring activities with program and M&E staff to analyze findings and contextual updates and adapt programmatic approaches to maximize outreach activities and the overall project’s impact

The “HOW” - Skills & Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’ degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Development, Political Science, International Affairs, Social Sciences or another relevant field

Experience:

  • At least three (2) years of experience working with youth or youth organizations
  • Experience conducting activities in the field of peacebuilding, social cohesion, youth empowerment, or religious engagement
  • Experience working with religious communities and with youth
  • Experience working in a non-profit or similar environment
  • Experience of partnership building, with experience of influencing stakeholders and establishing and maintaining strong partnerships

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High level of religious sensitivity and respect, and understanding of how to work with and across religious communities
  • Familiarity with youth groups and networks in Pakistan;
  • Proficiency with Google platforms and Microsoft Word and Excel, writing and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, presentation and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision;
  • Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and conflict transformation
  • High level of gender sensitivity and understanding of locally-sensitive approaches to engaging and mobilizing women participants;
  • Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments;
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances;
  • Willingness to travel to SCGP’s field offices; and
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Urdu.
