Jhpiego Pakistan - an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, seeks Program Manager for UNFPA funded program, focused to strengthen health systems with regards to women’s health particularly emphasizing upon family planning/post-pregnancy family planning services in collaboration with department of health and population welfare department across the country. This position will be based in Islamabad.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide programmatic management and oversee, in coordination with the Country Director, the strategic planning of activities in support of the Jhpiego Pakistan goals and objectives, including the determination of program priorities and appropriate technical initiatives
  • Develop program implementation plans to ensure effective technical assistance and smooth implementation of activities
  • Formulate productive working relationships with counterparts from the DoH and other organizations
  • Assure the quality of technical interventions, troubleshoot to prevent and resolve potential problems and review outputs for quality control
  • Present progress, achievements and lessons learned to key stakeholders including DoH, donor and relevant stakeholder.
  • Contribute in writing technical briefs/reports relevant to program
  • Track progress on deliverables on a regular basis and provide support for troubleshooting and ensuring achievements
  • Ensure continuous monitoring of program activities, as well as timely and accurate evaluation and reporting of progress toward the achievement of program goals and objectives
  • Develop program risk mitigation plans for smooth implementation of program, identifying delays or challenges
  • Contribute in annual work planning process
  • Work closely with Jhpiego and HQ to ensure effective, timely and coordinated project implementation
  • Represent Jhpiego in public and professional circles through meetings, conferences, and presentations
  • Draft and finalize program donor reports including quarterly, annual reports and success stories
  • Contribute to the development of novel knowledge management and sharing tools and processes
  • Communicate regularly on progress with HQ and report challenges for immediate problem solving
  • Manage and work collaboratively with team members to ensure necessary program planning, development, resource availability, and that management activities function smoothly and efficiently
  • Harness human, material and financial resources appropriate for the program to ensure successful implementation
  • Work with finance staff and relevant staff in country and HQ to develop and track project budgets
  • Monitor and supervise short- and long-term consultants contributing to program efforts
  • Support, supervise and manage technical resources and align their efforts with program goals to ensure rapid and sustainable results
  • Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 Qualification, Experience and skills Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in public health or relevant field with 7 to 8 years of progressively responsible experience in program development and implementation of SRH/family planning programs, preferably in Pakistan
  • Proven leadership skills and expertise in the management of health programs and program staff
  • Knowledge of competency-based training, performance and quality improvement approaches
  • Ability to develop strategic and programmatic plans in cooperation with concerned departments/other stakeholders/donors
  • Ability to develop working relationships with counterparts of varying levels of seniority and backgrounds to implement program activities
  • Strong decision-making skills, team player accustomed to building team capacity, delegating work to teams
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel within country
