Education Advisor - Consultant

Background

A countering extremism expert is required to work with the Project as a consultant for different university stakeholder outreach, coordination, and capacity building. The consultant will advise, support and manage university engagement, facilitate Program/ Implementing Partner (IP) coordination, and provide support in implementation of relevant interventions. S/He will also be responsible for exploring new opportunities for outreach and collaboration in the Project target universities in Sindh and Punjab.

In the proposed consultancy, the Education Advisor will work with the relevant Program Development Officer, Program Development Coordinators and the Deputy Chief of the Party and will be responsible to provide technical support to implement all university activities under short-term technical assistance (STTA) contract. The hired resource will report to the Deputy Chief of Party.

 

Scope of Work

 The consultant will be hired for a total of 88 days over an 11-month period. The scope of consultant activities will cover the following:

  • Develop agenda and action points for universities stakeholder meetings, vice chancellor conferences, faculty trainings and introducing new courses/revision of curriculum
  • Support and lead effort for faculty capacity building in Project target universities
  • Ensure follow up and work with the universities to facilitate and fulfill USAID construction requirements and monitoring on behalf of the universities
  • Manage strategic relationships with the Senior University Management
  • Develop strategic plan for role of the Project in student society formation, strengthening and functioning with regards to on-going programming and future
  • Facilitating inter university collaborations/signing MoU’s or renewing existing MoU’s among Project target universities and student societies
  • Develop strategic plan for increased ownership by university management for promotion of socio-cultural activities on campuses
  • Assisting and establishing Inter Universities Student Societies Network
  • Assist the Project with arranging Vice Chancellor and DSA conference along with creation of working group and facilitating follow on working group meetings that aid towards ownership of peacebuilding efforts by university management.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief of the Party.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences or relevant field (required).
  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences or relevant field (preferred).
  • At least 10 years of experience (combined) working on peace building, education management, stakeholder management or relevant experience (required).
  • Experience of creation of strategy and presentation to Govt. Officials, international donor representatives, large audiences (required).
  • Workshop creation and conducting experience on peace building, higher education management or relevant topics (required).
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office (required).
  • Experience of having worked with digital and print media (preferred).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team (required).
