Job Title:                   Business Development / Fundraising Consultant – SME/Agribusiness Development Projects

Reports To:                Chief Executive Officer

Duty Station:            Lahore (with some local travel / remote work)

Contract Duration:   Level of effort of 180 days spread over a period of 9 months

Job Summary:

We are looking to engage a highly qualified, well connected and vastly experienced business development / fundraising consultant with requisite leadership and technical skills and a proven track record of securing grant funding / fundraising. The fundraising / business development will involve completion of the entire fundraising / business development cycle of development projects, i.e. identification of agribusiness/SME development projects, conceptualization, designing, development and submission of project proposals to the relevant donors, signing of project / grant contract by the organization with respect to the successful proposals. The consultant will be required to identify and secure funding from potential funders, donors and partners, including federal and provincial governments, international donor agencies and other public and private sector partners.  

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Present a comprehensive fundraising strategy along with a specific action plan to the organization.
  • Identify eligible and innovative funding solutions and strategies for the organization. This includes the identification of possible revenue streams, available grants, donors, partnerships, etc.
  • Through advance intelligence gathering, identify potential grant opportunities associated with prospective funders and donors, nationally and internationally, including the public (federal and provincial governments) and private sector donor and grant funding market.
  • Conduct prospecting visits to the identified potential funders and donors to identify and prepare for upcoming funding opportunities.
  • Initiate funding related engagements between the organization and potential funders and donors. Represent the organization’s business development interests at relevant meetings, events, networks etc.
  • Manage actions for pre-solicitation proposal preparations and bid planning in advance of the solicitations.
  • Develop and submit proposals and applications in response to the solicitations and to prospective funders and donors. Ensure an ongoing follow-up on the submitted proposals and applications.
  • Follow up and track progress of the submitted proposals and applications.
  • Ensure that at least two of the submitted grant proposals / applications are successful and awarded to the organization during the period of the consultancy contract.
  • Provide bi-weekly reports on the work completed, or as required by the organization.

 

 Qualifications / Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, economics or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience related to the above duties and responsibilities or in development or public sector. Experience in raising funds or grants from the international donors or public or private sectors is a mandatory requirement (Note: The shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide a list of past successful similar fundraising services). Experience of working on agribusiness and SMEs development projects under international donors funded programs is highly desirable. Experience of working with International NGOs, donor agencies, relevant government departments / public sector agencies or other reputed international development organizations is also highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of the national (public and private sector) and international donors and grant market in the agribusiness/SME sectors.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design and implement country-wide SME/agribusiness development programs with specific focus on poverty alleviation and employment generation.
  • Good knowledge of key economic development challenges faced by country and their specific relevance and impact on development of agribusiness/SME sectors of country.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government departments, donor agencies and partners and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
