DAI is seeking to hire a qualified Team Lead for anticipated UNDP funded Value Chain Strategy Development project in selected Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) of the KP province. UNDP intends to design interventions for private sectors in NMDs and nearby districts in the areas of quality improvements, study tours, technical improvements and market linkages. These interventions will be carried out through development of strategies for different sectors and the associated values chains, potential partnership with various private sector stakeholders in the NMDs and improvements in their businesses through private sector development. The project will be based out of Peshawar with a total duration of 11 months, and with geographic focus in Khyber, South Waziristan and North Waziristan districts.

Position description/summary:

We are looking for candidates with expertise in:

 

  • Having in-depth knowledge of private sector enterprise/entrepreneur development in Pakistan with focus in the KP province.
  • Having proven record of working with SMEs and carrying out enterprise development activities.
  • Effectively engaging with various key stakeholders both at the provincial and field levels.
  • Working closely with the team and UNDP counterparts for acquiring required approvals on agreed interventions.
  • Reviewing/finalizing ToRs for enterprise/entrepreneur development for receiving support under the proposed project.
  • Supervising and supporting project staff for smooth implementation of project interventions.
  • Working in close collaboration with team members for smooth implementation of the project activities.

Qualifications:

  • 10- 12 years of relevant experience and skills related to private sector development, research, capacity development and partnership management;
  • Proven track record working effectively in multi- disciplinary teams on development projects and building counterpart capacity, preferably in the KP province;
  • Fluency in English & Urdu required, and Pashto language skills strongly preferred;
  • Master’s degree in business management, economic development, marketing, research and/or relevant discipline;
  • Ability and willingness to be based in Peshawar and travel to selected Newly Merged Districts; and
  • Excellent strategic writing, editing, and speaking skills.
