DAI is seeking to hire a Private Sector Development Associate for anticipated UNDP funded Value Chain Strategy Development project in selected Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) of the KP province. UNDP intends to design interventions for private sectors in NMDs and nearby districts in the areas of quality improvements, study tours, technical improvements and market linkages. These interventions will be carried out through development of strategies for different sectors and the associated values chains, potential partnership with various private sector stakeholders in the NMDs and improvements in their businesses through private sector development. The project will be based out of Peshawar with a total duration of 11 months, and with geographic focus in Khyber, South Waziristan and North Waziristan districts.

Position description/summary:

We are looking for candidates with expertise in:

 

  • Having appropriate knowledge and understanding of SME sector of KP.
  • Assisting in mapping of the enterprise/entrepreneurs in the selected NMDs.
  • Facilitating in effectively engagement with various key stakeholders.
  • Assisting in organizing workshops/events and exposure visits.
  • Identifying service providers for certifications, system improvements and other required services under project.
  • Facilitating in supervision of timely completion of services by various service providors.
  • Working in close collaboration with team members for smooth implementation of the project activities.

Qualifications:

  • 3 -5 years of relevant experience and skills related to private sector business management, marketing and research;
  • Proven track record working effectively in multi- disciplinary teams on development projects, preferably in the KP province;
  • Fluency in English & Urdu required, and Pashto language skills strongly preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Research and/or Economics discipline Ability and willingness to be based in Peshawar and travel to selected Newly Merged Districts; and
  • Excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills.
