Consultant - Toolkit / Content Development for Tech Camp

BACKGROUND


TIE Islamabad in partnership with an international organization is organizing “Tech Camps” in major cities of Pakistan. Tech Camps are intended to bring civil society partners, social media influencers, innovators & experience mentors on one platform and will leverage entrepreneurial spirit to solve pressing social issues faced by Pakistan

 “Tech Camps for Peace” will be an initiative that connects technologists who are skilled at low-cost, easy-to-use technologies with civil society organizations, social media influencers, mentors and and youth to enable them to work on range of social issues within Pakistan.

Each Tech Camp will be a 3 days’ event comprising of highly interactive workshops, conferences, dialogues and trainings. The Tech Camp will bring together Civil Society Organizations, Social Media Influencers, National & International subject matter experts, mentors and Speakers.

 

STATEMENT OF WORK


TIE Islamabad require consultancy support of a C/PVE subject matter experts for development of Toolkit which shall serve as the bases of conducting workshop. This toolkit should be developed using design thinking principles for a comprehensive, context-specific resource composed of course modules for Speakers, Trainers & Mentors to deliver in a 3 day fully immersive workshop. It will serve social media experts from non-governmental organizations, grassroots initiatives and social media influencers who have direct access to communities vulnerable to radicalization.

Moreover, consultant will also provide assistance in organization of 3-day Tech Camps in Lahore, Karachi & Islamabad. Consultant will be responsible to provide backstopping to ensure the workshops are conducted as the designed curriculum and toolkits developed by consultant.

The toolkit should be developed containing but not limited to following modules:

Module

Description

Module-1

  • Current State of C/PVE in Pakistan
  • Importance of social media in P/CVE – Civil Society Organizations can leverage social media in countering the narrative
  • Best Practices – Success Stories from various international organizations/social media influencers who have successfully leveraged social media platforms for P/CVE

Module-02

  • Improve the understanding of the drivers of RLVE
  • Improve the understanding of PVE terminology and language in more depth, and contextualized to the local community
  • Improve the understanding of the role of formal and/or informal education in light of the principles of peace and global citizenship education
  • Identify priority areas of intervention for PVE, key implementation challenges and good practices to overcome obstacles

Module-03

  • The focus of this module shall be assessing the roles and responsibilities of various actors of society – who should be doing what?
  • How can be access and network with government agencies, civil society organizations, academia, religious institutes, family institute and individuals to play proactive role in P/CVE
  • Sharing practical examples and experience in working with those who are spreading narratives and those who tend to be victims

 

Module-04

  • How to create bring seminaries into government’s mainstream educational framework?
  • Where the mistakes have been made and how to improve system without violating human rights?

Module-05

  • Why online intolerance matters?
  • How online intolerance should be contextualize within cyber security strategy
  • Best Practices in preventing online radicalization

Module-06

  • Understanding the need for conflict transformation/peacebuilding and devising whole society approach to P/CVE in the Pakistan

Module-07

  • How to identify possible early signs of vulnerability and then act to prevent children/partners/other members joining violent extremist groups.
  • How to influence community perceptions and behaviors, and help building and strengthening individual and community resilience.
  • How to Provide families with suitable knowledge, skills, and tools against RLVE; this includes tools on prevention, early intervention, dis-engagement, rehabilitation, and reintegration.

 

 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in relevant field with a strong track record of the design and implementation of high-quality training content development
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing and conducting similar workshops.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement training methodologies around C/PVE
  • Demonstrated ability to work in close partnership with programme implementation teams
  • Knowledge of USAID & US Embassy programs
