COUNTRY PROGRAM MISSION

ALIGHT is an entrepreneurial humanitarian organization that assists displaced people to move from vulnerability to resilience, from impoverishment to well-being, and from exclusion to inclusion. Since 2002 ALIGHT has been providing humanitarian relief and development assistance in Pakistan through meaningful engagement with refugees and internally displaced people, innovative human-centered programs, and rigorous attention to outcomes. ALIGHT provides multi-sectorial programs that include primary and reproductive health, health clinic management, GBV programming, water and sanitation, shelter, and emergency response.

 

Through the EAC project and with local partners, ALIGHT strives to help enroll one million out-of-school children in quality primary education schools while strengthening and building on existing formal and alternative education systems in Pakistan.


PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Communications and Liaison Manager will work with Program teams and partner organizations to develop and implement communications strategies. The Manager is responsible to document the progress achievements and learnings of projects to promote a positive image among various audiences (donors, CSOs, partner organizations, and beneficiaries). This position is responsible for coordinating organization-wide design, message, and content generation, including electronic and print communications. The position holder will make frequent field travel to develop communication material and build the capacity of field staff.


 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communications Manager will correspond with employees and external stakeholders to keep them informed of organizational developments.
  • Communications Manager is responsible to ensure that employees are aware of changes and projects within the company. He/She will distribute executive messages, prepare presentations and internal memos, and conduct meetings to share information.
  • Communications Manager should be developing print materials and branding strategies for employee use. Depending on the organization's size, he/she will direct marketing and public relations staff or provide communications coaching for employees.
  • Externally, he/she will represent the organization to stakeholders, interested parties, and the public and serve as the company spokesperson to the media and the general public. He/she should develop and distribute materials that may explain or convey the company's policies or position on issues. Other duties may include issuing press releases, arranging interviews, and compiling press kits.
  • Create informative and interesting press releases, press kits, newsletters,  marketing strategies, events, and promotions.

 

  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies that build internal and external customer loyalty and brand awareness

 

  • Prepare and present to SMT the detailed media activity reports.

 

  • Responsible for planning and disbursements of the budget of the Communication department

 

  • Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials and work with different departments to generate new ideas and strategies.

 

  • Supervise of the communication team for effective result and smooth operations

EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Master degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
