About the Programme:

DAI-Tabeer is a two-and-a-half-year, GBP 22 million programme funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Its objective is to support the consolidation of democratic practices in Pakistan by strengthening the capacity of its political institutions to be more capable, accountable and responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Pakistani people. The programme provides high-quality technical and advisory support to the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Parliament, the provincial assemblies, political parties and civil society in building their institutional and functional capabilities.

Scope of work:

 CDIP seeks to recruit a Programme Officer to join its Democratic Space Strand which focuses on supporting both civil society and the media to deepen democratic space through public discourse and policy dialogue, and on engaging various groups of society including women, youth, minorities, people with disabilities and religious elites to build consensus on democratic politics, encourage participation in the policy level debate and support national human rights institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

§  Programme development to ensure effective planning and implementation of tasks as outlined in the programme work plan for the strand;

§  Liaison and partnership management with partner CSOs and organisations to roll out voter mobilisation and media freedom initiatives;

§  Support the strand in nurturing synergies across Tabeer Outputs and implementing partners by ensuring timely exchange of information and identification of opportunities for cross-linkages;

§  Developing briefs related to democratic governance, identifying and/or synthesising learning products developed under other strands to upload on Civic Information Portal;

§  Contribute to CDIP’s monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, including sharing and disseminating lessons learnt and reconciling activities with results framework;

§  Contribute to CDIP’s reporting, and other engagement with stakeholders, DFID and FCO, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

§  Master’s degree in Development, Social Sciences or other related field from an accredited university.

§  At least 2-3 years of relevant professional knowledge management in democratic governance or similar work;

§  Excellent management skills;

§  Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in Urdu and English;

§  Should be able to independently prioritize tasks and meet short deadlines, including approvals process;

§  Ability to work in complex environments with multiple tasks, competing priorities, and short deadlines.
