Position Objectives:

Under the overall supervision of the Project Officer and under the direct supervision of the Senior Livelihood Specialist, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of all livelihood programming under the PTI program

Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

  • Prepare plans for effective execution of the project activities related to livelihood approaches to disaster resilience as stipulated in the project document which includes but not limited to skills, practices and capacities, to manage resources and skills particularly of poor and vulnerable, and institutional strengthening to increase the resilience of the target communities to different hazards and disasters
  • Design, develop and provide necessary training for target communities to develop skills and capacities for disaster resilient livelihood strategies and viable options for income.
  • Lead beneficiary selection, verification, mobilization and sensitization
  •    Provide technical input in the need assessment, context analysis, baselines, reviews & evaluations; and provide support in partner selection
  • Provide support to the district team in provision of livelihoods measures, and updates of the progress
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to be accountable to beneficiaries as it is a key PRCS commitment to beneficiaries
  • To lead the identification and selection of project beneficiaries through a baseline survey in the area of the project implementation
  • In conjunction with project team under-take periodic needs assessment and prepare comprehensive report on field assessment
  • Coordinate the implementation of livelihoods component between the local stakeholders
  • Support to the effective mainstreaming of gender equality in beneficiary selection and sensitization
  • Working with the multi-functional team to assess the project progress against the project design
  • Building strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, including communities, line ministries agencies to adapt their programmes.
  • Any other task assign by the Project Officer/ Project Management
  • Support the preparation of TORs and training manuals and materials for activities, as required.
  • Ensure that program development and implementation integrates community-based approaches with gender sensitivity in all activities.
  • Ensure that lessons learned and good practices are incorporated into new programming and documented.
  • Support the M&E unit in implementing monitoring mechanisms for livelihood activities.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture and livelihood, development studies and service delivery.

Experience

  • Min 05 years’ Experience in implementing a large number of projects in complex emergency settings (Delivers on a set of objectives in hardship situations)
  • Experience in programmatic areas of community stabilization, community participation, and consultative-type projects and with demonstrated experience in subject matter livelihoods and agriculture
  • Capacity to work efficiently and connect with both internal and external stakeholders, including different program units, implementing partner, beneficiaries and broader community, donor and government counterparts
  • Capacity to design and write project ideas, develop and manage budgets and report on project progress
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Working experience with Red Cross Red Crescent Movement/ humanitarian/ rescue and relief organization will be an advantage

Skills/Knowledge

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Certification in Project Management would be added value.
  • Good Command over the Microsoft Office (word, excel & power point).
  • Strong monitoring, evaluation, & analysis skills would be required.
