Request for Applications (RFA) # E&ICSF-004/2019

Establishment and Improvement of Cold Storage Facilities

in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

‘The Horticultural Advancement Activity’ (THAzA) is a 5-year project awarded by USAID and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. THAzA focuses on selected horticultural value chains in Balochistan and in the selected Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (previously called FATA). The objectives of THAzA are to create jobs and generate income, through increased productivity and quality, improved marketing and access to services and investments in horticultural value chains.

THAzA intends to extend grant support on 50:50 cost sharing basis for the establishment of new and improvement of existing cold storage facilities with a capacity of 300 MT and above. These will be in-kind grants wherein FAO will procure machinery/equipment and hardware items and deliver each grantee’s site for installation. Selected grantees will be required to invest into the activity by covering all other cost components of the activity budget, including acquisition cost of land, construction and civil work. THAzA grant support offer is for facilities located / planned within the selected districts of Balochistan and KP.

Through this RFA, FAO invites interested investors from all over the country to apply for THAzA grants. Women entrepreneurs are highly encouraged to take advantage of a further reduced cost sharing requirement of 25%.
