Grants Associate

 The objective of Punjab Enabling Environment Project (PEEP) is to improve the enabling environment for the agriculture sector in Punjab to promote private sector-led growth, especially focusing on the horticulture and dairy and livestock sub-sectors. PEEP will help create internationally competitive policy environments for horticulture, livestock and dairy sub-sectors providing the private sector with the security required for investments in agriculture aimed at improving the quality and quantity of produce in the domestic market.

Job Description – Grants Associate:

  • Support the full cycle of grants management activities beginning from solicitation, grantee selection, pre-award assessments, monitoring/compliance visits and close-out procedures.
  • Assist the Grants Manager in the preparation of grants’ RFAs, grants agreements, and other grants-related documents.
  • Assist Grants Manager in negotiating budgets with potential grantees and provide support in preparing grants negotiation memorandum for USAID approval.
  • Coordinate with program units on grants related activities.
  • Coordinate with grantees to support completion of grants activities in line with agreed timeframes and support them in completion of reporting requirements
  • In collaboration with the relevant operations and admin team, coordinate logistical arrangements for the grants events, workshops, pre-application briefing/assistance sessions, pre-proposal conferences and other training activities to achieve conformity to assistance program objectives
  • Assist in reporting all grant-related information to M&E team.
  • Ensure the proper reporting, filing and archiving of all relevant administrative, contractual, personnel, technical and programmatic grants documents both via electronic files and hard copy files
  • Ensure timely, high-quality completion of all relevant reporting requirements;
  • Ensure that day-to-day personal behaviour and performance are fully compliant with the project’s policy manual;
  • Exercise professional interpersonal skills to effectively work with all project staff, clients, counterparts;
  • Abide by all local laws, USAID regulations, and US Embassy/USAID project directives; and
  • Perform any and all other tasks as may be assigned in a manner that contributes to the achievement of the project’s work plan and objectives.
  • Report to Grants Manager.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

The individual holding this position shall possess the following:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field from a leading Pakistani or foreign university; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with CA (Inter), ACCA (Finalist) or ACMA(Part Qualified)
  • Two to five years of work experience in a similar capacity
  • Budgeting, compliance, and grants management experience are desirable.
  • Previous work experience with international donors/NGOs required. Prior experience with USAID grants programs preferred;
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, to meet deadlines, and to exercise good, a professional judgment that reflects positively on the image of PEEP and Chemonics.
  • Ability to work under short deadlines and efficiently handle multiple tasks.
  • Fluency in both English and Urdu required; other Pakistani languages preferred;
  • Proactive and ability to work with minimal supervision
