Gender and Social Inclusion Lead

Chemonics seeks a Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Lead for the anticipated Sindh Education Programme (SEP), funded by the Department for International Development (DFID). SEP will have a strong focus on improving learning outcomes by improving the quality of teaching, ensuring poor and marginalised children are not left behind, and education systems are supporting learning, locking in gains of predecessor programmes and building a quality education system that promotes inclusion. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support on data collection, analysis and reporting to improve policy making, planning and resource allocation in the education sectorwith regard to gender and marginalised community
  • Use datato develop recommendations on to integrate gender and social inclusion into the project’s technical approach
  • Conduct social inclusion analysis activities with program staff, beneficiaries, and key stakeholders; lead efforts to integrate inclusive practices and recommendations related to education for adolescent girls, youth with disabilities, and minority populations among other areas into program design and activities
  • Develop specific GESI indicators and targets; lead the implementation and monitoring of social inclusion strategies across programming, building a strong evidence base on GESI achievements
  • Support MEL team in data collection and monitoring program activities’ impact on marginalised populations and social inclusion; prepare reports and recommendations for program implementation
  • Other relevant responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant area with 5 years of relevant experience, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in conducting surveys and performing assessments
  • Experience with education management information systems and/or education systems strengthening
  • Demonstrable experience in the field of data management, data collection, data analysis, and reporting
  • Solid understanding of M&E enablers for GESI in the education sector and related programs
  • In depth knowledge of gender and social inclusion issues in Pakistan, preferably in one or more of the following areas within the education sector:  education for girls, historically marginalised student populations, and students with special education needs and disabilities
  • Knowledge of Pakistan’s education systems
  • Fluency in English required

The duration of this position is five years.
