Purpose of the post
The Medical Equipment Specialist /Biomedical Engineer is the focal point for all matters related to medical equipment in ICRC supported hospitals and other health projects in KP. S/he works in close collaboration with the biomedical engineer department and management of the supported hospital to ensure that medical equipment is properly installed, maintained and, if needed, repaired. S/he supports health team to build strategies for the provision of medical equipment, together with the Health and Logistics teams, and overseas their implementation.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum five years’ work experience in managing hospital equipment’s.
Experience with humanitarian projects a strong asset.
Experience in technical training of staff with limited experience.
Very good computer skills, such as excel, words, and power point presentation.
Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
Fluent written and spoken command of the local language (Urdu and Pashto).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Keeps an updated inventory list of all medical equipment at the ICRC supported hospitals.
Ensures that medical equipment at the ICRC supported hospitals is functioning properly.
Plans and implements preventive maintenance of medical equipment’s.
Perform quality control of medical equipment’s and its maintenance; conduct corrective and proper maintenance.
Train hospital staff in preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment’s.
Draw up reports and submit to Hospital Project Manager.
Identified needs for new equipment, together with the health team, and assist within its procurement; manages stocks of spare parts.
