Programme Overview:

Chemonics International Inc. seeks an experienced professional to undertake the role of IT/Digital Tech Specialist for an anticipated DFID-funded, Pakistan Delivering Accelerated Family Planning Behaviour Change Communication (DAFPAK BCC) programme. The £13m UK Government Department for International Development (DFID) Programme seeks to target many of the barriers to using modern family planning methods.  It will comprise multi-channel, multi-message, tailored approach to change attitudes and behaviours, targeting a broad range of stakeholders and incorporating cost effective strategies such as use of positive deviants. The specific approaches will be informed by research funded by this programme early in its implementation. Messages will be integrated into all opportunities for face-to-face communication at the household and community level to overcome remaining individual-level and community-wide barriers where there is unmet need, linked to nearby supported social franchisees or mobile outreach. These messages will address acceptability and desired fertility, myths and misconceptions, health concerns, influence of mothers-in-law and husbands, and spousal communication, as well as access barriers through knowledge of service availability.

Job Description:

The IT/Digital Tech Specialist will manage the DAFPAK office IT infrastructure, provide end user IT support, support the creation process for online marketing strategies including, search engine marketing, mass media marketing, social media and website content updates. The Specialist will support the DAFPAK BCC team on general IT backstopping needs and to conceptualize and oversee design and implement various digital marketing projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Respond to staff inquires and requests as a first line of technical support for all programmatic IT needs.
  • Manage user permissions, and other IT resources usage.
  • Develop and produce visually compelling, creative marketing and communications materials; develop custom landing pages for special events, projects, campaigns.
  • Support the design and implementation of creative digital marketing strategies and email marketing campaigns to support organizational mission and strategic objectives, with an emphasis on broadening awareness of DAFPAK BCC at the local, provincial, and national level.
  • Oversee social media vendors and participate in the co-design process.
  • Work collaboratively to execute, and evaluate e-mail, social media, and display advertising campaigns, website design, and web-based vendors.
  • Assist with writing, creating, editing, delivering and optimizing a range of digital communications materials.
  • Manage content, copy, layout and design for the DAFPAK BCC website; creates and repurposes content for website and social media sites.
  • Monitor digital media trends and brainstorm strategies to grow audiences and improve web based performance; manage web based metrics, establish and monitor benchmarks to measure impact.
  • Bring new ideas, tools, and insights to the table.
Job Specifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Four years related experience in IT administration, marketing/communications, digital media, online communications, or a related field, preferably in a non-profit or cause based organization.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, and the ability to develop messaging and deliver information in a compelling manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of online marketing communications strategies and tactics, digital trends and technologies.
  • Experience with content management systems (preferably Luminate, WordPress), SEO, Google Analytics, and graphic design applications (preferably the Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Knowledge of basic HTML.
  • Experience in tracking and analyzing data and trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience on health/DFID projects a plus.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Anticipated Duration of Project: Up to 3.5 years with a possibility of extension.
