Relevant Experience:

·         Masters degree in communications or related field from an accredited university.
·         At least 3-5 years of experience working in public relations; experience working in government public relations or in liaison with Government of Pakistan media officials preferable.
·         Articulate with creative skills to present information in attractive, interesting formats.
·         Demonstrated ability to work as a team member, as well as to provide leadership.
·         Intimate knowledge of FATA history, politics, cultural issues, etc.
·         Ability to travel to FATA Agencies and Frontier Regions.
·         Demonstrated excellence writing and speaking English and Pashtu.
·         Previous work experience with international donors/NGOs required; experience with USAID desirable.
·         Ability to work under short deadlines and efficiently handle multiple tasks with attention to detail and the ability to function well in a team.

 

Job Description:

·         Oversee development of media plans for FATA and NWFP projects, using approved template, by guiding and instructing staff
·         Contribute to overall three to four month FATA and NWFP program media strategy and implement approved plan
·         Identify new media projects that advance FSSP’s objective to strengthen the legitimacy of the government in FATA and NWFP
·         Manage all media-related projects, including video news release and radio programming, by liaising with points of contact and ensure project follows designated timeline
·         Ensure all documentation from media-related projects is saved based on program requirements
·         Serve as primary point of contact for the FATA and NWFP media and maintain relationships with journalists in Peshawar, Islamabad, and throughout FATA and NWFP to understand current trends
·         Liaise with the FATA Secretariat’s Media Cell to maintain strong working relationship with Media Director by briefing on program media activities
·         Establish relationship with NWFP government media counterparts
·         Highlight projects by drafting and distributing press releases to printed, radio, and television outlets
·         Share press releases with FATA Secretariat Media Cell and other implementing partners
·         Maintain and track printed press release or media successes, reporting on accomplishments each week
·         Organize press conference for journalists to interact with government officials to better understand projects
·         Arrange field visits for journalists to facilitate coverage of program related activities, which requires working closely with the field teams
·         Visit field offices to advance media strategies at field level, including interacting with press clubs, ceremonies, etc.
·         Document all field visits by drafting reports to be shared with the donor
·         Coordinate media efforts to ensure parity with other implementing partners
·         Train PDU staff to assist with press releases and media clipping
·         Track negative media articles related to overall program.
·         Advise FSSP’s senior management on media relations and strategy
·         Engage in overall political analysis, impact assessment, and strategy development to advance FSSP goals.
·         Represent FSSP to external audiences, sharing program updates and successes
·         Attend monthly and quarterly strategy sessions
·         Participate in professional development and training activities, as necessary
·         Travel frequently throughout the region
·         Other tasks as assigned
