Job Responsibilities:

 

Promotional and Strategic Development:

  • Develop proposals by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation methods, timelines, standards of performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts.
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings.

Linkages Development:

  • Research, track and respond to funding opportunities from donor agencies, foundations, potential corporate partners and other grants organizations.
  • Solicit, summarize and present feedback from internal and external stakeholders on campaigns and programs initiatives.
  • Foster strong relationships with existing linkages for livelihoods, simultaneously research and identify prospects of untapped networks. 
  • Ensure effective dissemination of practical guidance, best practice and lessons learnt at all levels within the program and organization.

Strengthening Coordination Mechanisms:

  • Collect or facilitate the collection of material on the organization’s representation, participation and leadership in humanitarian forums, including assessment of skills, capacity and structural gaps to this end. 
  • Participate in regular program meetings, teleconferences or other communications mechanisms, as appropriate. 

Promotion and Visibility of Projects:

  • Assist Communications office in planning and developing promotional and visibility material (for example documentaries, publications, stories, infographics) for program (DCEP Education, Health and Livelihoods) specific projects.
  • Coordinate with project teams on gathering information and data for visibility purposes for the Communications office.
  • Prepare updates, write ups related to DCEP Livelihoods, Health and Education Projects or activities, when required.
  • Assist in editing stories, updates, etc. produced by program teams.
  • Provide suggestions for visibility material related to your program or other areas of the organization.
  • Ensure to update stories and other relevant materials to the online Google Docs in a timely manner.
  • Support effective implementation of visibility plans by maintaining knowledge of all current projects, assigned tasks within visibility plans, and ensuring timely completion of assignments.
  • Participate in Communications Office team meetings and capacity building activities.

 

Job Specifications:

Qualification/Experience:

  • For the post of Senior Program Officer - Program Promotion, a graduate / master’s degree from a recognized university and minimum 3 years of regional/international experience is considered necessary.

Skill/Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of current promotional and marketing strategies with reference to the development sector.
  • Strong network building capacity and knowledge of relevant linkages development mechanisms.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people and teams (ranging from program team, donors, promoters, politicians, media and field workers). 
  • Display of pro-activity in terms of receptiveness to change and effective management of pressure oriented situations.
  • Sound understanding of Humanitarian and Development context at regional level.
  • Ability to work independently, ability to take initiatives, and make decisions.
  • Ability to represent the organization at various levels in-country, regional and international levels.
  • Commitment and motivation to promote quality and accountability using creative approaches, aside from training.
  • Ability to travel in-country, sub-region and the region as and when required.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
