Project Description & Background:

Pakistan Reading Project will improve the quality of reading in public and private schools across all of Pakistan; supporting at least 1.3 million primary school students to read at all level commensurate with standards at their grade level by the three mutually reinforcing components of teacher education and professional development, systems reform and civil society engagement.

Position Summary:

The Sindhi Language Quality Manager is responsible for coordination, development and technical implementation of Sindhi reading in early years and teacher training activities and follow-ups.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and integrate reading instruction and assessment into grade I and II and support government schools in improving reading in grades I and II
  • Implement materials and support delivery of lessons to enhance curricular offerings and model teaching pedagogy;
  • Coordinate and support trainings of the teachers, Head teachers and academic supervisors etc 
  • Train teachers to teach literacy skills to young learners;
  • Data management and quality assurance through tools, observations, feedback etc.
  • Support SSAs for creating a culture of reading in the schools through implementation of reading strategies and TLM; 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualification & Experience:

Education:

  • Master’s degree preferably in Ekducation or related field

Work Experiences:

  • At least 5 years of experience in teacher training, language instruction at primary level (any language preferably in Sindhi), research, monitoring and evaluation of programs or other related fields

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Have experience of material evaluation;
  • Experience working with early grade will be preferred;
  • Demonstrate innovation and success in staff capacity-building and in participatory, flexible, and gender-sensitive programming and implementation; 
  • Fluency in Sindhi, Urdu and English is essential
  • Experience in conducting and managing training activities and workshops (e.g. managing training logistics and developing training materials);
  • Demonstrable interpersonal and intercultural skills and experience working closely with national and international teams;
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with high attention to detail;
  • Previous experience with donor-funded programs preferred;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring and evaluation in the field of education

Language and Computer Skills:

  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills in English, Urdu and Sindhi. Knowledge of local language preferred
  • Good report writing skills in English
  • Proficient in MS-Office
