Job description: Director Programs
Reporting to: Executive Director
Purpose of the Position
The Director Programs is responsible to Design, develop, implement, manage, and supervise all the organizational programs in accordance with the best practices, donor guidelines, contracts and international standards. As a member of the senior management team, the Director Programs participates in strategic planning and program reviews meetings, donor meetings and problem solving sessions. S/he manages a team of professionals focused on the design, funding, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects that effectively address the underlying causes of poverty and social injustice in line with Sungi's Programming Principles. S/he must also ensure that systems and people are in place to ensure the proper management of those projects and programs. S/He works in close liaison with Programme Management Committee of the Board of Governors of Sungi Development Foundation. He/she works within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
Duties and responsibilities
Program Development and Strategy:

Lead the preparation of gender aware and rights based program strategies based on sound contextual analysis and that target specific underlying causes of poverty and social injustice.

Ensure that all programs and projects designed and implemented are in line with those program strategies and contribute to achieving the objectives of the organization’s Strategic Plan.

Seek strategic partnerships necessary to promote Sungi's vision and programming principles.

Develop new projects and initiatives and identify emerging opportunities

Identify and develop relationships, ensuring regular engagement and coordination, with key strategic partners in government, civil society, media and the international community
Program Quality and Management

Ensure complete adherence to Sungi DF’s vision, mission, strategic objectives and policies at all levels, and suggest/recommend changes for efficient and effective systems development;

Responsible to Design, Develop, implement, manage and supervise all activities of the program in accordance with international standards and donor guidelines

Provide leadership in strategic direction, visionary approach, developing, resourcing, supervising and implementing a result based Policy Advocacy, Social Mobilization, Human and Democratic rights

Supervise conduct socio economic research studies/Case Studies in Sungi’s working area, identify components of village development plan through participatory rural appraisal (PRA) where Sungi can provide assistance to community and procure essential technical and human development resources;

Monitor programs and projects to ensure that they are implemented in a professional manner in line with the project proposal through project visits and the review of annual implementation plans and activity reports.

Ensure donor and government reporting is done according to agreed upon standards and in a timely manner.

Work closely with Units in Program Support (finance, procurement, HR, transport, etc.) to ensure proper coordination exists for efficient program implementation.

Develop and manage program budgets and cash-flows in line with organizational processes
Any other program related tasks as required and agreed with the Board of Governors and Executive Director
Qualifications

Master Degree in Social Sciences

10 years relevant experience on same position

Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills

Demonstrated gender sensitivity and human rights orientation

Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Sound computer skills
-
Effective oral and written communication skills in Urdu and English.
