ARC is working in Pakistan since 2002 and in the recent past it has reoriented its assistance in Pakistan. ARC is now both a trusted provider of relief and emergency services to Afghan refugees and also a frontrunner for development in the country. Focused on innovation, the delivery of best in class, high-quality services, and geographic diversification, ARC has brought value to refugees and host communities in Pakistan. ARC has been responding to the needs of people in some of Pakistan’s most challenging regions including Afghan Refugees in Balochistan and members of host community, People affected by the 2015 earthquake in Kashmir and IDPs in Swabi, Swat and North Waziristan in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province who are uprooted during the recent internal conflict.

ARC targets the most marginalized groups of the society including also women, girls and children who are survivors or at risk to Gender Based Violence (GBV). ARC ensures that all their needs are met and besides provision of protection services, prevention of women, girls and children from abuse and exploitation is also covered by the interventions. GBV is a cross cutting theme of livelihood, education and Protection programmes. ARC International GBV programme in Pakistan integrates innovative strategies to curb GBV through response, prevention and protection initiatives.

ARC Pakistan initiated a project titled “Protection of Afghan refugee women, girls and boys through community driven GBV prevention, response and referral mechanism” in refugee camps of district Loralai Balochistan in 2015. The project aims at reshaping community behavior towards women, girls and boys and fosters an acceptable community environment that caters to and protects women rights and discourages GBV from within their communities. ARC Pakistan is providing comprehensive protection services to GBV survivors in Afghan camps and strengthens community based GBV prevention and response mechanism by involving different segments of afghan communities under this project 

I. SCOPE OF WORK:

American Refugee Committee aims to sensitize boys, girls and parents, the beneficiaries of the project, on prevention of Gender Based Violence and harmful traditional practices. Considering the socio-culture norms of the target groups living in refugee camps/ villages, ARC intends to produce a series of short videos /animations for dissemination of prevention of GBV sensitive massages on the following issues.

  • Domestic Violence
  • Gender roles that result in Gender Based Violence
  • Child & Forced Marriages
  • Girls' Right to Education
  • Valvar (Paying for the Bride)

II. OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

· To develop a series of videos/animations to create awareness among beneficiaries towards Gender Based Violence and harmful traditional practices against women.

· The videos/animations will highlight socio cultural norms, gender fixed roles and responsibilities, and traditional custom and practices that result/trigger Gender Based Violence against women, girls, men and boys.

III. Qualification/ Experience:

· At least 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in video making, animation development, graphics and audio editing, and production

· Previous experience of developing similar messages on gender/ other development themes. Extensive knowledge of Gender related issues including Gender based Violence, Domestic abuse, education, child marriage etc.

· Good inter-personal communication skills.

· Interested candidates are required to submit script on the above-mentioned issues with details on production, story board, and a methodology for dissemination of sensitive messages in the targeted refugee camps

IPR: The ARC will retain Intellectual Property Rights to the developed content
