1. Background and Rationale:
The requested organization together with its implementing partner has selected 05 Union Council in Sanghar in Sindh, for a long-term WASH intervention under the project titled “Strengthen community resilience to floods, and improve access to safe drinking water, adequate sanitation and hygiene for 140,500 individuals in Sanghar and Thatta districts, Sindh Province” which aims to provide access of community to safe and clean drinking water, improved sanitation (CLTS and PATS) and hygiene awareness.
2. Purpose of theConsultancy:
To conduct two research studies PATS approach with reference to local context of the area.
3. SpecificObjectives:
The main topics of the two research studies are;
1- Social and cultural challenges in implementation of PATS based on local community context?
2. Impact analysis of PATS on ground water, health and hygiene of community in the study area.
4. Methodology:
The methodology stated below is tentative and will be finalized after discussion with the consultant:

6. RolesandResponsibilities: Organization:
The Consultant
TheConsultantissolelyandexclusivelyresponsibleforthepayment ofanytaxesand social securitycontributionsrelatedtotheabovementioned consultancyfeeunderapplicable Labour law.The organizationwillnotbeheldresponsibleforanymedicalexpensesorforanycompensationin the eventofdeath,disabilityorotherhazardswhichtheConsultantmaysufferintheperformance of his/her duties.
The consultant is responsible to act as independent, non-biased external researcher to undertakethestudyand submitthe outcome of thestudyin shape of an analytical reportwith findings andrecommendations.

7.4. The final report shall be submitted in hard form as well as in soft form along with database

- · AnoverviewofPATS approach and WASH interventions and their literature reviews along with references both in the introduction part a well at the end of report.
- · A study of challengesandgapsin PATS approach and along with health impact
- · Recommendationsmodification/ addition of activities ofthe targeted communitiesandmodalities for intervention
8. Confidentiality,non-disclosureandpropertyrights:
- · TheConsultanttakestheresponsibilitytokeeptheinformationreceivedthroughthis workin full confidentiality;
- · TheConsultanttakestheresponsibilitytokeepinfullconfidentialityallinformation received fromorganization andother organizations, bodiesandlocal authorities;
· The Consultant through the signature of this agreement, understands that all documentsproducedasaresultofthisworkareorganization’spropertyandonlyandsolely organizationhasthe righttodistributeand/or publish them;
- · Failuretoabidewiththeabovewillresultinthenon-paymentand/orretentionofthepayment of consultancyfee
Deliverables
1. Two complete researches on proposed topics mentioned in the objectives
2. The research work must be strong enough to be published in international journals. The researcher will be contacted during comments from reviewers
3. The consultant will submit research to organization and the researcher will not be liable to publish the research in any journal
Eligibility Criteria
1. The firm/individual consultant must have research background in WASH/CLTS
2. The firm/individual should send profile of the their firm or detailed CV in case of individual consultant
3. CVs of experts must be attached with application package
4. Research in Environment, ground water, and socioeconomic conditions of community will be an asset
Note: The financial proposal must contain transportation, accommodation and lodging for the field visit. The organization will not pay any amount other than agreed one.
