A Consulting firm having its office in Islamabad requires services of Programme Assistant GIS for its research study. It is a temporary position for 3 months (likely to be extended for 2 more months)
Relevant Experience:
The candidate should posses Masters Degree in Geographic Information System (GIS) from a reputed recognized University with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience (Mid-level Professional) with reputable organizations OR Four years GIS experience with diploma in Geographic Information System (GIS).
Candidate should have good English communication skills with expertise in GIS related softwares, MS Office, E-mail, Internet browsing etc.
Job Description:
- Create maps and graphs, using GIS software and related equipment.
- Conduct search on Google earth to locate the spot and obtain spot coordinates
- Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.
- Design and update database, applying additional knowledge of spatial feature representations.
- Enter new map data through use of a digitizer or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
- Analyze geographic relationships among varying types of data.
- Prepare metadata and other documentation.
- Operate and maintain GIS system hardware, software, plotter, digitizer, color printer, and video camera.
- Move, copy, delete, and add files, drawings, and maps to output reports in hard copy or electronic transfer.
- Present information to users and answer questions.
- Retrieve stored maps.
