PERSI supports small scale activities in Punjab and Sindh by providing grants to undertake programming. The activities are designed to support organizations, including Governmental entities, local organizations and community groups, to implement peace building and community development activities.

Overview  

The project has two distinct types of programming in Karachi. Certain activities are tied to specific locations in Karachi. There are also a growing set of activities that are city-wide in nature. The Program Coordinator is a key position in the Karachi office, managing all program responsibilities for city-wide programming in Karachi, including a diverse portfolio of grant activities with key partners, representation with government, civil society, and donor agencies, and leading Activity Programming Teams. The position will work with DCOP and other staff in the Karachi team to undertake successful implementation of PERSI grants that fall under the city-wide objective of programming. The Program Coordinator will provide direct oversight of the Project Officers and a PDO.

 

Scope of Work

  • Oversee portfolio of small grants and technical implementation of activities through activity cycles - from concept, design, implementation, through close out, in collaboration with activity partners and the program team, including key activities with I AM KARACHI

  • Supervises Program teams in the region, maximizing efficiency and learning through the activity cycle
  • Identify and integrate best practices for greater program knowledge-sharing and learning
  • Represent the program to Government, civil society, business community and our client (USAID)
  • Identify opportunities for cultivating city-wide and national platforms and networks to support program strategic objectives
  • Develop and maintain critical relationships with all stakeholders including local and provincial governments, civil society organizations, media groups, and community influencers
    • Serve a leading role in strategic decision making with other managers and USAID
    • Serve as Head of Office in absence of the Deputy Chief of Party as required
    • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

Qualifications

 

  • University Degree in relevant field, Master’s Degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in related role required, including supervisory experience
  • Relevant experience of working on a USAID Project in a related role highly preferred
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office) required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Thorough knowledge of English; working knowledge of languages spoken in the region will be an advantage
