“Communications Manager”

An international non-governmental organization (INGO) is seeking to hire Communications Manager under a basic education program funded by an international donor agency in Sindh. The Communications Manager’s prime responsibility will be for gathering and preparing timely, appropriately formatted inputs for project’s reporting responsibilities. He/She will also be expected to advise/assist program colleagues planning and implementing program campaigns and events. He/She will be responsible for managing communications and reporting functions as program focal person. This position will be based in Karachi, Sindh, He/she will be expected to travel regularly to program Sukkur Field Office and other field locations. Excellent command of English, Urdu language skills will be required.

Scope of Work

  • Establish system for receiving timely inputs from Project headquarters and field staff for preparing high quality reports, success stories and case studies in English for the donor
  • Relevant reporting tasks will include but not be limited to:
  • Coordinating with senior management and partner staff as to the progress and status of activities for reporting
  • Collecting and reporting best practices and lessons learned
  • Collecting and reporting success stories
  • Collecting and formatting quality photographs
  • Ensure that all reporting inputs are formatted in accordance with donor Branding and Marking Manual
  • Provide assistance to senior management in the final preparation of quarterly and annual reports
  • Take the lead in the preparation of factsheets, PowerPoint presentations – that will be used to better market the program to its stakeholders
  • Be responsible for setting up and maintaining the project photo and video archive
  • Advise and assist on the production and distribution of program promotion and campaign materials
  • Advise and assist on communications components of program promotion or campaign events

Qualifications and Experience

  • University Graduate/Masters degree in relevant academic discipline (i.e. English, Communications)
  • Excellent command of English - writing, speaking, editing and reporting
  • Minimum three years relevant work experience in journalism, technical or report writing
  • Excellent command of MS Office® software (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and ability to use information technology tools and resources
  • Minimum three years’ experience working for government and/or foreign aid projects
  • High organizational ability and able to work with limited supervision
  • Competent in the use of photographic equipment and photo editing software
